The Manawatu Mountain Bike Club was founded in 1988. The club aims to meet the variety of mountain biking fitness and leisure needs of our members. A mixture of recreational and competitive events and rides are catered for throughout the year. The club caters for all ages and abilities from experienced to novice riders.

Club rides cater for recreational riders as well as fit and skilled riders with an emphasis on fun with the exhilaration and enjoyment that is obtained when biking in the great outdoors. Rides are generally scheduled fortnightly throughout the year and include a range of grades to suit everyone (please refer to the ride grade.) Weeknight night rides are scheduled once a month during winter and weekend family fun rides have recently been added to the programme on a monthly basis. Occassionally a weekend away trip is planned to one of the many exciting mtb areas around the country. These have included Queen Charlotte track, Redwoods Rotorua, 42nd Traverse, Taupo and Hawkes Bay MTB parks. The most recent was an excellent trip to ride Tree Trunk Gorge. The club is also affiliated to the national body, BikeNZ which allows our members to race at a national level.
